Book Reviews

Below is a list of some books that we have read on dealing with the loss of a child or grief in general. Some of the books were helpful, others not so helpful. The reviews are simply our own opinion. That does not mean that a book I didn't find helpful could not help someone else. Please let us know your opinions on these books. If you have read other books that have helped you deal with a loss, tell us about them. We will continually be adding to this list.

*Joy Cometh in the Morning
A Story of Healing from the Loss of a Child
Author: Fran C. Hafen

This book was written by an LDS author who simply tells her own story of dealing with the loss of her son.

*Gone Too Soon
The Life and Loss of Infants and Unborn Children
Author: Sherri Devashrayee Wittwer

This book was written by an LDS author. It gives a comforting message to those who have had a miscarriage, with quotes from prominent Church members. While I believe the book was intended for anyone suffering from the loss of a child, as well as miscarriage, it seems to have a strong focus on the miscarriage aspect. Because of this, I did not find it very helpful for my personal situation. However it does have a great section on "Helping those who grieve", as well as sections on father's grief and the grief of grandparents.
